Product Description:
Methyl cellulose ether MC
Methyl cellulose is a non-ionic cellulose ether, which is made by etherifying and introducing methyl groups into cellulose. It comes in small white, light yellow, or light gray particles, filaments, or powders with no odor. It is almost insoluble in anhydrous ethanol, diethyl ether, and acetone. It quickly disperses and swells at around 80 to 90°C hot water, and then rapidly dissolves upon cooling. The aqueous solution remains relatively stable at room temperature and can gel at high temperatures, with the gelation process being reversible with changes in temperature.
It has excellent wetting, dispersing, adhesion, thickening, emulsifying, water retention, and film-forming properties, as well as impermeability to oils. The formed films have excellent toughness, flexibility, and clarity. It is widely used in the construction industry as a mixture for cement, mortar, and joint sealant. In cosmetics, medicine, and food industries, it is used as a film-forming agent for adhesives and as a size for textile printing and dyeing. It is also used as a synthetic resin dispersant, coating film former, and thickener.
